Six Pillars of Impact

Integrated water, energy, health, food, finance, and policy solutions across Kenya’s arid and semi-arid counties.

Solar Water Infrastructure for Schools

Our flagship programme delivers complete solar-powered water systems to schools in Laikipia, Baringo, Samburu, Isiolo, West Pokot, and Turkana counties. Every system is designed for 25+ years of operation with minimal maintenance.

Clean Energy for Water & Livelihoods

Every water system we install is solar-powered — displacing diesel generators and grid electricity while creating local technical employment. We train community technicians to install, maintain, and repair solar-powered water infrastructure, building a pipeline of clean-energy jobs alongside every project.

Community Water, Sanitation & Hygiene

Beyond infrastructure, we invest in the people and practices that sustain clean water access for generations. Our community programmes ensure every intervention is locally owned and permanently sustained.

Food, Nutrition & Education Security

Reliable water unlocks food security. Alongside every borehole and solar installation, we integrate fruit tree and vegetable garden programmes at schools — improving child nutrition while keeping students in class instead of walking long distances to fetch water.

Climate Finance & Carbon Programme

Every solar installation displaces carbon emissions from diesel generators and grid electricity that would otherwise power water pumps. We are registering a Gold Standard Programme of Activities that aggregates these emission reductions — generating verified carbon credits that fund more schools.

Policy, Advocacy & Global South Coalitions

Water Abundance Africa is positioning as a Green Climate Fund Executing Entity and Gold Standard carbon programme coordinator — working alongside county governments, the British Army Training Unit in Kenya, and regional partners to shape policy that unlocks blended finance for African-led climate solutions.
